Ovarian cancer is cancer that arises from the ovaries and is common in women above 40 years.

Ovarian cancer often goes undetected until it has spread within the pelvis and abdomen hence understand the early signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer can lead to early diagnosis and life-saving treatment.

Ovarian Cysts

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs or pockets in an ovary or on its surface.
Many women have ovarian cysts at some time. Most ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless. The majority disappears without treatment within a few months.

However, ovarian cysts especially those that have ruptured can cause serious symptoms.

Ovarian Cancer Symptoms

Ovarian cancer is one of the life-threatening cancers among women. In Malaysia, ovarian cancer is one of the top ten most common cancers. More than half of ovarian cancer cases were detected at stages III & IV.
Most women are diagnosed late as ovarian cancer may not show symptoms in its early stages. Women might ignore the symptoms of ovarian cancer and dismiss them as gastric problems.

Prompt attention to symptoms may improve the odds of early diagnosis and successful treatment. Early detection can save lives.
